FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS A NUTRITION COACH?
A nutrition coach, sometimes called a "health coach," is typically a nutritionist, consultant, counselor, mentor and motivator all in one. The National Consortium for Credentialing Health & Wellness Coaches defines nutrition coaches as: "professionals from diverse backgrounds and education who work with individuals and groups in a client-centered process to facilitate and empower the client to achieve self-determined goals related to health and wellness."
Nutrition coaches help clients develop and progress towards their personal wellness goals by empowering them to take responsibility for their own health. They recognize that being healthy involves more than just proper diet. A nutrition coach also focuses on non-dietary aspects of a person's life, in order to improve clients' overall, holistic wellbeing.
Nutrition coaches can help their clients learn how to nurture good relationships with food and their body, proactively create a balanced, healthy lifestyle as clients try to juggle new eating habits, and more. Ultimately, they teach clients how to make healthy lifestyle choices and become self-sufficient.
HOW IS A NUTRITION COACH DIFFERENT THAN A REGISTERED DIETITIAN?
The role of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, or RDNs, is more medical in nature. RDNs design nutrition programs to protect health, prevent allergic reactions, and alleviate the symptoms of many types of diseases.
Coach Keith is not a licensed medical professional or mental health care provider. If you feel your nutritional journey is dependent on a medical expert, and/or an RDN, we encourage you to contact your medical team. However, Nutrition Coaches can also work in conjunction with your medical and mental health providers to help provide health and wellness.
ISN'T NUTRITION JUST MONITORING CALORIES IN AND OUT?
Not exactly, it's about the food...but not only about the food. What you eat is important. What's also important: Why you eat, how you eat, where you eat, and who you are or how you feel as you eat (or don't). We're powerfully influenced by what's in our head and around us. We focus our coaching on a multi-faceted, whole-person, whole-life experience of thriving in all domains: physical, mental, emotional, and so on
WHAT DOES A NUTRITION COACHING SESSION LOOK LIKE?
Upon purchase of nutrition coaching sessions, you will download a link to a page for you to schedule your first 45-minute coaching session with Coach Keith. In that download there will also be a link to create an online account with Fox Fitness's coaching platform and intake assessment form--the journey starts there! Coach Keith will review those items before your first meeting. When you both meet virtually, via video conferencing, the teamwork begins. You'll be asked to shed light on your life: your successes, set backs, hopes, fears and dreams regarding nutrition and wellness. With Coach Keith's knowledge of high quality nutritional practices and your understanding of daily demands made on you, you'll collectively and together outline goals you can reach, create do-able action steps, record successes and failures, and continue this partnership until we can prove you've reached your goals. Fox Fitness's online coaching platform allows for daily reminders, tasks to complete, ways to track your progress, and message Coach Keith. Positive support goes a long way, and you're not alone in this. Whether you want to lose weight, gain muscle, or just lead a healthier life let Coach Keith mentor and support you on your nutrition journey.
HOW LONG DOES SOMEONE NEED NUTRITION COACHING FOR?
That depends a little on everyone. Remember, it's about the food and it's not only about the food. Creating real, sustainable change takes time. This isn't Hollywood, and our lives can get so messy. Breaking down habits and building up better ones doesn't happen overnight. Ideally clients will begin to see real change within the first three months, but most coaches agree that a full calendar year is when clients will see the best results. This is why Fox Fitness' Nutrition Coaching packages are sold in three month bundles. To allow clients to receive the full motivation, support and teamwork from Coach Keith to make real progress in their lives.
WHAT DIETARY PREFERENCES CAN YOU CREATE MEAL PLANS FOR?
